Cancel BT Contract after 12-months

Hi all,
My 12-month BT contract expired at the end of April and they have automatically renewed my line rental and BT Broadband.
I want to move to Virgin Media now so can I cancel my BT contract now without encountering charges? Or will I face early cancellation charges if they have automatically renewed the services for another 12 months?

You'll have to pay for another 12 months, as you missed your "one time" opportunity to cancel this year.0

You do not say whether you opted for Free Off-Peak Evening & Weekend calls. If you didn't and only got free calls at the weekend, you would not be on an auto-renewing contract. In this case, 30 days is your only notice required. Also your contract did not expire after 12 month. Only the minimum term did, the contract carries on until you give notice.0
