Ford Transit Connect - locking problem?
Can someone please help?
On occasions, when trying to lock my van, it locks for a second, and then re-opens by itself. This happens when the weather is hot and sunny (but this may be coincidence!!).
I've had the van for about a year, and it is in excellent condition, but this keeps happening. Had an alarm installed in the hope this would override the problem, but it is still happening.
I am concerned about taking it to the garage in case it is a costly problem. Don't know too much about cars/vans but any suggestions for me to look at before taking it to the garage would help.
Thanks

I was until recently thinking of buying a transit and found this site http://fordtransit.org/forum/ I am sure you will find the answer there :beer:0

how are you locking it? are you using the key in the door or the buttons on the key fob?
does it do it when you try both ways of locking it or only one way?
if it only does it with the key fob buttons then it could be a fualt with the fob, if it also does it when using the key in the door it could be any one of a number of things.
i would get it checked out though, i don't think your insurance company would pay out if your van got stolen and they found out it hadn't been locked in the first place....work permit granted!0 -
Thanks for replies. I've only recently had a key fob so have been locking it manually. Now I have the alarm fitted, I can lock it both ways, but it still does it (not every time).0

I have a similar problem in my ford focus, when locking using the central locking (fob+door) all doors will lock, and then immediately reopen. I have put this down to a knackered electric block in the drivers door (a blue block). Basically I have just unplugged this block until I get it fixed. This means that the fob will lock and unlock all the passenger doors and i have to manually unlock and lock the drivers doors. not a problem.
understand that mine is a ford focus as opposed to a transit, but it's still a ford, and so may be similar and definitely worth considering in the short term in order to make sure you dont lose out on insurance.0
