Sometime in the last 3 weeks we have lost our ability to open the lovefilm website. Our Internet connection is fine otherwise. Using the IE8 analysis on the site tells us that the PC firewall is configured correctly but that a firewall elsewhere is preventing connection.
Anyone have the same problem or ideas of cause?
We have a Belkin router - could it be the firewall on there?
I know lovefilm have started streaming services - have they changed sth on the site that our router/PC doesn't like?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks

well to be honest could be antivirus/internet security mine on eset has web access proetction and host of others (firewall etc) that real time protect have you tried looking in there disabling for a minute then trying then renabling after you have tried ? that would allow you to decide if it is that.

I always have at least two web browser shortcuts on my desktop so if one is causing a problem I can use the other to help aid diagnosis. This is particularly relevant with aol which inexplicably prevents me doing things on occasion. Firefox has always worked for me and only takes a couple of minutes to download and it is always worth trying system restore if you are running XP and you dont already know start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.

    problems connecting to lovefilm.com
lovefilm.com requires an unusual setting in the firewall in the router. If you have a problem where you start to connect to lovefilm (maybe the page starts to show) then the page "hangs" for a long time, then the browser gives up and says "can not connect", the solution may be as follows.

Find the "DoS Detect Criteria" settings, in the "Firewall" section of the router control settings. One of these settings will have the name,"Max incomplete TCP/UDP sessions number from same host". This setting should be set to at least "30". Some routers have a default setting as low as "10".

Lovefilm.com website has been developed to strange standards and appears (to your router firewall) to be a "rogue" site that is attempting to bombard you with data streams (in a way it is really!). Changing this one setting is better than switching off the firewall in the router, although that would work as well.

    Hope this helps.

    your solution worked perfectly.... thanks

I have a Belkin router, but to access the change you suggested I had to download the 'hidden' commands page for the router from the web. Hope this helps anyone else with a Belkin.
