Recommend me a vented tumble dryer?

Hi, our 12 year old Whirlpool tumble dryer seems to have given up the ghost so we need a new dryer.

I've mooched about the net and looked at price comparison sites but am confuddled!

Do we go for a cheap C rated White Knight machine and hope it lasts, or plump for a more expensive make with reverse action?

We are a family of 5 with a teen, a 5 year old and a baby so do at least 2 loads of washing per day - most of which is then put in the dryer, although we have gotten used to using the line and airer over the past few months whilst we've been without the dryer..

There are reviews around on most machines, but these are mixed.

Can anyone recommend a decent one please? Preferably less than £200?

thanks in advance....

Pop over to ukwhitegoods.co.uk and check out the forums. There is one for Washing & Drying and there are some expert contributors over there.

Personally, I have a 10 year old own brand job from Comet or Currys. I don't dry in the house cos I don't want the damp and condensation.
  • Hi

Can anyone recommend a tumble dryer that vents on the right side (facing the front)? I have a space 55cm deep and the outside wall is on the right of where the machine will sit. I have the vent behind now but it makes the machine sit so far forward I cant open cupboard doors.

I have searched and search but am getting nowhere - any help would be great!!!

    Thanks

We bought a cheapish Indesit model, can't recall the exact price but well under £200. Its fantastic, really really fast. Things like poly cotton shirts and the like can be dry in the time it takes me to peg them out on the line. I thought all driers were this good until I spoke to friends who tell me that there driers take an age.
The very first drier we had lasted about 17 years, the next one a Hotpoint only 15 months and this Indesit we have had about 4 years.
  • I have a vented White Knight 831 with reverse action, it wasn't expensive and works a treat.
