Fuel Direct credit refunds
Hi all
I have a problem regarding my British gas fuel direct payments.
I have just had my latest meter reading calculated for gas usage and my account is now showing a credit amount of >£300.
I had noticed it steadily growing, but assumed when the credit reached over £100 it would be automatically refunded to me, as is the case with Direct Debit payers.
I have requested a refund of this large amount of credit 3 weeks ago.
I received a call today from British Gas who, whilst very sympathetic and apparantly willing to refund the money to us, said they could not, due to being 'unable to access the credit funds to refund them to me'
:mad: I was told to just call the Fuel Direct team @ DWP!
Since when does the DWP have the ability to directly access British Gas accounts???????
This is because payments are made via fuel direct.
Has anyone else had their credit refunded when paying by fuel direct, or does anyone know where I stand on getting the money back?
If it means me leaving fuel direct then fair enough. I'll budget in the same deductions I have now for gas myself.
But surely they can't refuse to give me back MY MONEY!!
This money would come in very very handy at the moment due to my increased car fuel costs. I've just had a leg amputated and my car's my legs!!
