Dining Room table and chairs - recommendations?

Options
I'm on the look out for a new dining room table and chairs. My current set came from Argos and have been rubbish, so I don't want to buy another set from them.

Have been trawling the internet and have found numerous websites selling furniture, but would prefer some recommendations. Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a dining room table and 4 chairs?

Thanks :)

Just came back from westfield centre in London and discovered a great store called DWELL. Like a much cheaper version of habitat with some amazing stuff. We are buying a leather corner sofa from them. website is https://www.dwell.co.uk They also had a great dinning table we are thinking of getting.

Argos have loads of different suppliers, their tables and chairs will be from multiple manufacturers, so I wouldn't assume they're all of the same quality.

Some of them are also on display in homebase stores. We've got the Cucina Oak one from there at christmas time and it's very sturdy. We were reassured by the good reviews when we were buying it.

    Have you tried Ikea?

Or try some smaller independent retailer.

This is what we liked from a small family business. Solid Indian Sheesham wood and not expensive either.

We got ours solid oak extending oak table with 4 solid oak chairs from a local (then) shop (we moved since!), and they used to have a sale once in a while of second grade furniture. All that was wrong with ours was that as the wood dried more, the joining line in the corner has separated by about 1mm. Nothing else was wrong! We bought it, and never regretted. It was not very cheap (can't remember now!!!), but it is solid, the wood is thick and 3 years later looks like it has just been bought. Similar to these:
