I'm struggling a lot with this but can anyone tell me if this is the same sort of thing but maybe more user friendly??

USB (or serial) printers only but cheaper than what's going on Ebay.
Thanks Brian - an excellent idea0 -

More of these on eBay today, and discount postage for multiple items
Cheaper than a second hand NSLU2 and a better spec :j
I have an NSLU2 as a network controlled jukebox in my hifi, which may well be replaced by one of these.0 -

I'd give that one a miss. A zero feedback seller who seems to be using Ebay as an advertising medium. I doubt it matters what you bid - when you turn up to collect they won't take less than £15 minimum.
The listing is also misleading - when they say "compatible Windows 2003" they mean that the VIA hardware will run up to that version of Windows CE, which is generally regarded as a pretty useless OS, and you would have to source that yourself. It seems to come with a VIA-specific Linux variant - I doubt it will run any of the generic Linux distros.0 -
@fwor - thanks for info , I've had a message from seller saying that the bid is only for one unit and for all of them will be £245 ..so accepting £5/unit , I assume.0

Spakkker,
This is an area where you need to know EXACTLY what you are buying and what it is capable of.
Can the memory and internal storage be upgraded easily?
Can you replace the operating system ?
What is the processor inside ?
Will the machine boot from USB (CD/Flash drive/both)?
Are the ports USB1 or USB2 ? etc
Without knowing this, you run the risk of buying a paperweight.
Thanks

These things are on and off ebay more times than a vicar's trousers in an English farce!
I managed to grab one this lunch-time to try as a client on my LTSP setup. (LTSP 5 running on Ubuntu 10.4 in a para-virtualised Xen guest if we're having a geek contest)
