If I buy an under the counter fridge with a freezers box inside I don't have to do anything other then to plug it into the wall to get it working do I?
Dumb question however after years of renting I've never had to do this before

Nope just plug it in. Only fridges/freezers that need anything else doing are the ones that dispense water, those need plumbed into the water suppy.
Stardard under counter ones just need an electric socket.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Hello aylithuk
Do read the instruction leaflet/booklet for your fridge, before you plug it in. It is likely to say something like:
Before switching on!
DO NOT SWITCH ON UNTIL X HOURS AFTER MOVING THE FRIDGE. The coolant fluid needs time to settle.
