Well it seems the Irish Health people have banned it. Their version of Health and Safety of Beauty Products. Something to do with the chemicals used. Read this on an Irish Beauty board I visit. It was passed as safe to use but then they found the company did not declare certain chemicals in the mix.0

A 12 week blow ???
right where is the snitch button
Best laugh I've has so far this week!You live..You learn.:)0 -
I bought a voucher for one of these blowdrys when I registered with www.groupon.co.uk. They have daily offers depending on where you live and often have offers on Brazilian Blowdries. Mine was £60 discounted from £190 and although I paid in full, I haven't been for the treatment yet so was very interested in this thread. The offers on the BBs seem to come up quite often so if you're thinking of having it done, why not wait for an offer. There's no way I could afford £190 but I can justify £60 as I need to have a blowdry at least once a week for my very thick, unmanageable hair. Will report back when I've had it done (booked in for 8th Jan) but the feedback seems good so far.0

Hi Polly...thanks for the heads up about groupon.
Everywhere I enquired about the BB said the price STARTED at £200 ...depends on the length of your hair...PLUS the shampoo and conditioner which are around £40-£50
I had a voucher which got me the treatment for half price (ie £100) but it was still another £50 for shampoo etc so I'll defo be keeping an eye out for offers on groupon

I too had to read this thread, cos of the name, not that I have a dirty mind or anything!!
Two things, one it is really nice to find a NI forum with no arguments on it!!!! and two, I just wish I had curly hair, even a bit of frizz - hate this fine, straight, fly-away stuff, and the hairdresser won't put anything else in it unless I stop the highlights (mousy brown/grey I don't think so!)
Anyway, good luck with the 'Ultimate Blow'DJWW - cos we won't let it!0 -
Just had it done today and I'm pleased with it so far. They wash the hair, apply the solution (which makes your eyes water) and then blow dry it and finish with straighteners. I did warn the stylist about how long it takes to dry my very thick hair but even she was surprised about how long it took and said she was knackered! Made me an ideal candidate for this treatment of course. When the hair has been dried and styled they then re-wash it and it took just minutes to dry silky smooth with no straighteners needed so well impressed. Hope it's as easy when I go to do it myself later in the week. Just one more thing though, there was a 'hard sell' on the 4 related products ie shampoo, conditioner, serum and finishing spray. I really couldn't afford these, even at the 'specially discounted' price of £99  so didn't buy them but then had to sign a form saying that I understood that they couldn't guarantee the blowdry will last 12 weeks. Fair enough but I'll take my chances. Does anyone know if the 'acai' products make any difference or is it just marketing hype to squeeze more cash out of customers?0

products with sodium0

The hairdressers I went to actually did the 'hard sell' on Aveda products INSTEAD of the branded stuff. I paid £50:eek: for a box containing shampoo 2 different conditioners and a daily leave in conditioner

I've been using them faithfully since I had the treatment done on my hair - about 6 weeks ago and still have some left ( washing my hair about 3-4 times a week)
I would say that after about 5 weeks my hair wasn't as easy to blowdry straight, and starting to frizz up ( and out) like 'normal'
Only use Sodium free products...aparently it's the sodium (which seems to be in EVERY haircare product) which strips the hair of the hair straightening treatment ????0 -
Many thanks for this - I love Aveda products and they're certainly cheaper. Disappointed to hear that you only got 5 weeks out of the blowdry and hope I fare better.0

I'm pretty sure aveda doesn't have sodium as it's one of the few shampoos I can use (allergic to sodium lareth sulphate). I would have wanted it to last more than 6 weeks though! Will be interested to see if in the end your hair goes back to normal or if the blowdry has any other long term effects0
