P60 not provided by Employer

What is the current level of fine for the employer if they fail to provide P60/Statement of Earnings and how do you go about reporting them?
In 2007 it was £300 per employee and £60 per day after 1st June.
I am going to write and ask for a statement of earnings on company headded paper and expect a response within 7 working days, but want to understand the next step.
I have asked by phone and email and been promissed a call back from the manager, alas no responce. I need it to relaime my tax as have had 6 part and full time jobs in the past finacial year.
Thanks for your help.

I assume you realise that an employer is only required to issue a P60 if you were in that employment at 5 April? It does not matter what the penalty is - all you have to do is infomr HMRC if you have not had your P60 by 31 May and your employer is not responding to requests.
There is no obligation for employers you were not in employment with at the end of the tax year to provide you with statements, etc of pay and tax. HMRC will have those details on your record.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
Thanks Fengirl, but little confussed. Are you saying tht they only need to produce one if I actully worked for them on 5th APRIL? The work is occasional but am still on their books and worked again for them in this finacial year.
I worjed for them several times in the finacial year 09/10. My partner did the same piece of work and has recieved her P60. I have requested and been promised it several times.
Is it just a case of calling HMRC?0 -

Do you both have the same type of contract with them?
Do they treat you both the same in terms of PAYE - that is do you both have the same tax code on your payslips?0 -

Yes we both worked for them in the previous finacial year.
We both had other jobs as this is only occasional work so both on BR code.
The contractual arangements and job title were the same for both of us.
Neither of us worked fot them on the day of 5th April.0 -

Yes, if you were on their payroll at 5 April, they need to send you a P60. I would give them 5 days and then report them to HMRC. Not that they will have any time to do anything about it - if your OH has had theirs, then it looks as if they are making returns, it doesn't look like a complete failure on their part. Meanwhile HMRC should be able to process your claim as they will have details from the company.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
