help on consumer rights required please.

can anyone please help me. i bought a laptop around 3 and a half months ago from asda. the card that was advertising the laptops features stated that it had a blueray player. there is also a sticker on the laptop with all the features, this also states that there is a blueray player. having baught a blueray disk to use on the laptop i have discovered that in fact it is a dvd-rom and not a blueray player. i still have the receipt for the laptop, what i was wanting to know is what are my consumer rights please. thanks.

Sounds a bit weird, actually - the sticker on the laptop saying there's a Blu-ray drive but there not being one? Could have been a one-off error. Does the drive have the Blu-ray logo on it?

I would get in contact with Asda, by all means, although the fact that it's been three months may count against you. I don't think that legally it should though

    Which model is it ?

Take it back. They may insist on sending it for "repair" first

Probably is a one off. Agree with the above, best to just ask them to fit the correct drive which they should do.

Personally I wouldn't accept a repair, why should you be without it while it's sent away. Tell them it was falsely described and you want a new one.

Well if you dont accept repair you'll need to recopy all your stuff which depending how much you've got on there could be pain I would see how long it'll take them to replace first. although it is a pain in the backside to be without.
  • ok i've checked my laptop out and there is no blueray logo on the drive. and the model is an acer aspire 5530.
