Couple on jsa any help if they found work?

Hiya, my sister and her partner have been claiming jsa for about 5 to 6 weeks and they have 2 children. Would they be entitled to any help if they find work? They are waiting for ctc to come through at the moment they have made a new claim. Her partner has interview next week and will hopefully get the job. He asked at the jobcentre about any help they would be able to claim but was told to ask these question at his back to work interview (when this is he doesnt know) and then asked at main desk to be told they wouldnt be entitled to anything as they hadnt claimed for long enough. Does anyone know if they would get any help as they are living off the jsa as they have no ctc yet. The pay would be monthly so its gonna be a while till he would get paid if he got the job. Is there any sort of help or do you have to claim 6 month first?

I think the OP is after assistance with the first months living costs betwen her partner starting work (and closing his claim) and his first pay cheque.
JSA is paid in arrears so there will almost certainly be a payment due when he signs off. He MAY also be able to get a crisis loan, but talk to the DWP about this as I am unsure how this would work as he's signing off when he needs to apply. If he doesn't get a back to work interview before he gets the job offer, it might be worth seeing if an "emergency" appointment might be made. I think the assumption is that as he has only been out of work for a short while, he should still have some money available to him. But, of course, that isn't always the case.0 -
The person at the main desk is correct they haven't been on benefits long enough to qualify for any benefit run on. The only thing they might get would be a crisis loan.Hiya, my sister and her partner have been claiming jsa for about 5 to 6 weeks and they have 2 children. Find out about a payment for 'back to work'......don't know what it's called sorry. My son was on JSA (income based) for only 3 weeks, and when he signed off he got a one time payment of £100. he called about it and was told it was a 'back to work' payment to help meet costs till first pay day. Though I have heard others on here say you have had to have been on jsa for six months before you get it.0

I dont think there would be any payments due to the short term nature of the claim.
Alignment to wages can be applied for via Social Fund and that will have to be paid back.0 -
They have to be claiming job JSA for 6 months until they're entitled to anything! It's really unfair, Where i have just started there is a lad who started the same day as me, But as he has been signing on for over 6 months he is over a £100 a week better off than already and i'm running up rent arrears!! just cause i really wanted to get back into work.
They would be entitled to working tax credits if they work over 16 hours a week. Also they would get Child tax credits and Housing benefits.0
