Experian taking ages to update electoral roll?

in Credit cards
I've been registered on my electoral roll since April 28th and freaking Experian/Credit Expert still have me as not registered in their records.
I phoned twice already and I only got the usual call centre person trying to talk their way through their rules, their frequencies of update and stuff.
I don't see why they cannot update their records as often as the council does. For all I know, I've been paying £7.99 a month for some 3 months now and to simply have my creditworthiness misrepresented. What a fantastic service.
I am on the freaking roll but they are too lazy to update it and I can't get a credit card...
Anyone else having this problem? Solutions? I tried to phone Amex but they said they need to receive that info from the agency, they can't chase it themselves...

Do you know for a fact that your Council have published an updated Electoral Register?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

CRA can take up to 2 months minimum before updating their records0

It will depend on your council as to when your credit report is updated, some councils will update the CRA's monthly, others only update once a year after the annual canvas.
As Stephane says, even if your council update monthly this could take up to 2months to show on your file depending on the cut off date.0 -

They would be showing this information whether you pay them or not.0 -
I had the same thing happen to me when I got on to the electoral roll in March and after much chasing up of both the council and experian, it appeared on my report just before the end of May. So end of July might be what you could be looking at but call the council and chase up when they're due pass on their data to CRAs - they are councils after all.0

Yes, but I thought that because I'm a paying custoomer, it wouldn't be too much of a problem for them to listen to my query and do something about it. Like phoning up the council desk at the number I provided them with, give my name, birthdate and postcode (which all appear in my CRA record), hear the lady saying "yes, he is registered" and update my record straight away...
That demotivator poster reading "customer disservice: because we are not satisfied until you are not satisfied" springs to mind.0 -
Hi, just thought I'd comment as I am having the exact same problem, I want to apply for a credit card as I need to try and build my credit history as its terrible. I applied mid April and still haven't been updated. Its beginning to drive me mad, I get no response from equifax either. A few weeks ago there was some info on the dates that they update there records and the next one was 15th June which is tommorow so fingers crossed it will be updated tommorow, but I'm certainly not counting on it.0

would this not be in breach of data protection act? I dont know Im just asking0 -
Do you know which version of the electoral roll you are on. If I remember correctly if you tick the box to be on the restricted version then you will not appear on the one sold to the credit agencies. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Actually I for one would have even less respect for the CRA's if I thought they were 'selling preference' - "pay us ~100 a year for timely accurate data, or don't pay us and take your chances" might swing in other industries but shouldn't here.0
