Advice on BT Landline

We have a BT Landline which we currently play about £114
(i think ) a quarter for... We never actually use it as we have loads of minutes on our mobiles..

We have BT Business Internet that we also pay £130 a quarter for
Do we need a land line to have the internet?

We dont want to change the internet as its set up with our business ect and dont want to go to the hassle of changing all the business
cards ect

thanks in advance

As far as I am aware you will need the phone line for the internet. Why not call them and say you are thinking of leaving them - they may offer you a deal!

  • Ive tried all that lol
But we pay out a fortune on phone..

We dont even use the home phone... its just such a waste of money...
I asked for incoming calls only but they said it costs the same!

The only real solution is if you are in a virgin media area is to get virgin business. You do have to get a phone line with it but it works out cheaper than your BT packages. BTW business customers are treated better than domestic virgin media customers.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • We live in a brand new road... and there isnt a Virgin cable in the road..
    Ive treid that as well...

I guess im kind of stuck with them them... I hate paying money for something that i dont use..!

Get your own domain name and use that for email addresses and website - that way you aren't tied to a particular ISP or host.

On the BT site you can get a business line with broadband and 500 mins of calls combined for £20+vat/month in areas with lots of competiton, £25 otherwise, yet you say you are paying £244/quarter ( £80 odd per month) something very wrong there,
You ask can you have broadband without a landline, if you have no cable access then unless you include mobile broadband, the answer is no, you need a landline back to the exchange, to 'host' the broadband connection, you can get in some areas, if you are a business, SDSL ( a data only connection, no dialtone on the line) but it doesnt matter if they say SDSL rental £40/month or adsl £20 and landline £20...the total is still £40, (£40 made up by me, I've absolutly no idea how much it costs)...SDSL is same speed upstream as downstream so good for updating websites etc..

Surely those two statements don't go together?
And £130 a quarter for business broadband?

Are you paying for previous usage? Or making lots of calls? Or going over inclusive allowance? Something else must be going on

Who is your mobile phone with?
Ive just moved from BT (bloody t*****) to o2. I pay 9.50 a month land land 7.50 broad band, and I have my moby contracts with them.

If you have a BT email address then this might not be the option for you,
    :D
  • Ive just contacted BT
BT Business Phone and Internet combined £45
    were happy with that..
Now only the one bill and not 2... Saving of about £70 a month ish

Didnt want to leave bt business broadband as we have had good service from them plus if we left we wouldnt be able to
    keep all our business emails...
