If your savings go above £5500 you need to inform the DWP if you claim means tested benefits. Savings between £6000 and £16000 will reduce means tested benefits. Savings over £16000 will stop means tested benefits.

If you are referring to DLA and do not claim means tested benefits you can have any amount of savings.

Unsure if you are on about Disability Living Allowance, Incapacity Benefit or Employment & Support Allowance ?

Example: Employment & Support Allowance - Contribution Based ( Enough National Insurance credits over the past 2 years ) means you can have Madonna's entire career's cash banked & you still qualify for E&SA, but under E&SA Income Based assesment means you get not a iota as you have Madonna's billions.

Incapacity Benefit cannot be claimed anymore, but linking rules upto 2 years if you claimed before exist. Incapacity assesment is like E&SA and if you fail on the NI credits you are paid Income Support and Disability PREMIUMS upto the rate of IB you would have been able to claim under the NI credit rules.

Disability Living Allowance is paid if you work or not, it is based around your disability & how it effects you. Housing Benefit & Council Tax Benefit CANNOT use any DLA £ award in calculations, all the way to - neither can a court as additional income if someone sues you. It is a STATE Government Disabilty payment NOT a additional income.
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
    If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:
    :D
    ;)
