Just had a call from someone and they told me that my company has a virus and YES it was some lady on the other end,

I thought it was a scam and still went with it.

She told me to goto www.logmein123.com and she would issue me a 6 digit code.. at thie point i laughed at her and said im not that silly.
the number she called from was 0000000000000000000 how that works i dont know.

I dont know if logmein123.com Is a scam tho

If it's a scam PLEASE REMOVE THE DIRECT WEBLINK before people click on it.

Have you accessed the site? If you have I would want to run a malwarebytes scan to make sure it hasn't downloaded anything without you knowing: (written by alienRIK):

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/2894/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

from the looks of it logmein123 is the login/assistance for log me in rescue which is something to do with logmein remote access software.

So i assume by you entering the 6 digit code into the box on that website you would have been authorising the caller access to your system. At least thats how it looks

I was a bit quick with my fingers so the rebuke is deserved. But do you really think someone would give access to their computer with the sort of introduction you go got?

Ok, 'virus' was mentioned so maybe the panic factor would overcome the common sense you displayed.
  • https://www.logmein123.com is NOT a scam website, it is just being abused by scammers. It is a perfectly legitimate website used for providing remote support; I use it at work.
