I've recently reinstalled Win XP on my system.
I'm in the process of updating all the drivers.
I have an ASUS motherboard, just been on their website and downloaded the lastest driver..
It is a zip file which has an .awd file.. My system doesn't recognise it..
Any ideas how to execute it?

I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!

Tried "file association .awd" in google? Might help ;P"Success is not to be measured by the position someone has reached in life, but the obstacles he has overcome while trying to succeed." Booker T. Washington

I've googled it but nothing made sense..
It says its a fax viewer document but surely a driver would be some kind of .exeI would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -

So how does this update the drivers?
I'm lost now..I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -
it is a BIOS update I believe. You need to flash your bios with that file on a floppy disk. Don't do it though. Its not needed and can destroy your motherboard[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Just some clarification for you guys.
A driver is a bit of software that helps the OS (win xp etc...) talk to bits of hardware (usb, chipset etc...).
The bios is a some code held in some system ROM that inspects the hardware config at boot time, then works out how to get the boot manager running and start the OS.
Updating the bios is considered more "dangerous" than a driver update because if it fails mid update the motherboard may stop functioning.
If you do a bios update please read all the documentation for your motherboard bios on the manufacturers website and on the cd that came with your motherboard.
Always back the existing bios before starting and dont turn off the computer if an update fails. Retry it.
For ASUS see here.
For what it is worth i have done 100s of bios updates (y2k) and never had one completely die on me. That said i would not try it unless you are fixing something that you require. If the system is working fine then dont do it.NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"

That aint a reason for the OP to do it though.
I'm sure Michael Schumacher has driven a formula one car at 150mph+ 100s of times.. but I dont think it'd be safe for me doing that[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
