Not sure how that would pan out. You would need to configure an A record for the subdomain and I don't *think* you can do that with a free DynDNS account. What you could do is set us a DynDNS host to point to your apache and add the host header it comes in with to the alias and achieve more or less the same thing :-)

    See my post.

Just had to give it a go, :D

Changed all the 'sub' references entries on the sever to something more appropriate, didn't have to, but makes thing easier in this case.

Went to DynDNS, put in details, all works perfectly.

But it doesn't work with your own domain. You can only use the domains DynDNS provides.

True, but it will do for now.

    Very profound Richie. ;)

Without giving too much detail, he's very talented in a certain pursuit, but it's expensive, he needs a few more/bigger sponsors.

By himself he's produced a combined flyer/cv/sponsorship form, all on an old PC I put together from scrappers.

When I get his flyer edited, add a few more pics , then get it online, he'll also have a bit of web presence.

I'm going to have to give up the day job. :rotfl:

It is just worth mentioning that several ISP forbid running web/mail servers on 'domestic' broadband. Why that is I don't know, but check your ISP's AUP to make sure it's OK. I've known them cut the wires on customers who breach this. Second, consider the issue of bandwidth - if for any reason you get swamped with visitors that is going to come off your ISP bandwidth limits. Incoming request (small) = download, served page outbound (larger) = upload.

I had BT pull the plug on me for running a home server selling used CD's of all things and then tried to hold me to paying for a full 12 month term before releasing a MAC code to move. It was a nightmare.

Just making you aware FYI, it would be worth checking your small print. Perhaps if yours is 'not for profit' it will be OK?
