I accidentally made an overpayment on my credit card which has left me £103 in credit, however I want to cancel this card altogether - will they send a refund or do I have to spend on the card to the value of £103?

You can ask them to refund. I would suggest you close the card once you have got the refund.

When I closed my last credit card they transferred the credit directly into my bank account.

Quickest option is to spend the money.

If you can't spend £100 relatively quickly, then ask them to refund - which is likely to be via cheque - then close.

    Done.

If they offer to transfer the money direct to your bank account, it's worth double checking they won't charge you for this! (As some would in "normal" circumstances.)
