Why do my BT freestyle 3500 fones appear to go flat when the batteries are ok?

I have a quad set of these BT phones. They used to work fine for a few years, and then they started to appear flat after being off the charger for a short time, or ring and go blank etc. I replaced the batteries (like for like) and the problem continued. Ones that were fully charged cut out and needed resetting on the charger. When i check the batteries with a volt meter (that puts a load on them), they appear fully charged (1.4V on a 1.2V rechargable battery). I think that they cut out for some other reason than the battery state. I've cleaned the battery contacts and made sure the springs connect etc. Any ideas such as dry joints, phone software programmed to go faulty after 4 years to make you buy new ones?

Same thing happening with my BT Synergy 4100. Replaced batteries with new rechargeable ones but still a problem. Only had them 2-3 years.

Would be interested to hear others thoughts

    Anybody got any ideas?
  • I've had the same problem with 2 lots of BT cordless phones 'dying' after a few years. Don't seem to have a long life compared to other brands.

I guess not buying BT phones is the answer.
