Dell - Student Computer Initiative

Dell state that students are able to get their computers at up to 25% reduction via their university or via the HSBC online banking site if a customer. This entitles you to a cheap computer with next day repairs, Microsoft Office etc and can be preloaded with the universities software prior to dispatch. Sounds an excellent deal but has anyone any experience of this? I have e-mailed the University and await a reply.

Yes.... dont believe a word of it! Our uni gets these rates and university machines have to be bought through them... but they almost always cost more than what you can get online. What you must remember is that they insist you have upgraded support packages (well we have to) so that adds a huge lump onto the price... so if you want the package then the student deals will be good, but if you dont, then the prices will probably be rotten2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
Hi, mentioned a few days ago that I was told by my computer engineer not to get Dell as they are very hard to upgrade but I don't know how true this is - just my 2p's worth"If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'***0

I got mine through their online 'Outlet' store - high spec, very low price! They don't come with monitors, but that was OK as I had a good one anyway...
My rants have had a Dell for years, and if my dad can upgrade one himself, anyone can!April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200
