Data protection act? Council sent personal details

Not sure if this is the right spot but will have a go anyway.

I made a claim for a bust tyre due to potholes. I have now recieved a letter (see below)

My first problem. This excuse could be applied to any and every claim made.

My second problem. With the letter i recieved prints of every complaint made involving the road, detailing the complaint, how t was handled, by who as well as complainents names, personal circumstances, house numbers and other sensative information.

I'm assuming this is a breach of data protection. Does this mean my complaints have been posted to other people to?

Any advice appreciated
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

    Probably.

When you wrote to them, did you specifically tell them what they could and could not do with the data you supplied? ;)

No, didn't feel i really had to.

But the letter i wrote isn't the type of infrormation i recieved. The stuff i got were emails, telephone calls etc. so, i will have filled out a form on the council website to report the fault (did this three times i think). thats the kind of info i recieved.

If you received 'personal identifiable' details of other living people then a breach has occured unless they have specifically authorised this.

Therefore your two options would be to make a complaint to the data controller at the council and/or the the ICO.

I have done this recently after using a 'pay by phone' parking service where after enquiring into a text message we received I was told about every time, date, location & method of payment my wife had ever done...... Even though I never stated that we were actually still together!
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
