I live in a new build apartment so the dish and cabling was pre-installed before we moved in. So no new cable. However, been here for 17 months with no probs.

That may be the problem. If it's a pre installed dish then more than likely it's a communial dish & before feeding into your appartment,It goes into a Multi drop distrabution unit & then into your appartment.
If the cabling is then connected into a faceplate behind your TV,The might be a kink in the cabling inside the box.
When I was doing my HD course when I worked for Sky,we were told that you need a single straight run of cabling from the dish to the box.
If the is a box, then check inside it to see if it is kinked.

Very curious. I have the same problem--only ITV & BBC & only during the world cup matches. Other HD channels and programming work fine. Is it possible that World Cup games place more demands on the signal? It is frustrating.

The world cup games don't place more demand on the signal, but they're broadcast live, and as with any live event, technical problems can occur.

ITVHD managed to miss the England goal, remember. It's in Africa, so they have to send the signal from Africa to the UK via satellite, then broadcast it to you via whichever means you receive television. The more links in the chain, the more chance of failure.

I wouldn't rule out the alignment of your dish either, mind you, but if the channels that are breaking up are only breaking up while you're watching something being broadcast live, it's pretty obvious where the fault lies.

Maybe the HD box has taste
Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.

No, the signal breaks up whether its a recorded programme or a live one and first began before the WC started. Also breaks up on normal as well as HD programmes - but much worse on HD. Wasn't bad over the weekend. Think it must be alignment - waiting for a fix, but the hight of the dish means it could be a while for the contractors to do it :o

Thanks everyone for your comments at least I was able to establish it was the communal system and not either ours or a nationwide problem.

Ok, if it does it on everything then it'll be either a dish alignment problem, a cabling problem or (much less likely) a fault with the STB or LNB.
