2p Overdrawn

So I got a letter from Lloyds TSB today saying that I went 2p overdrawn on the 9th and I was being charged £15 + £6 a day for the unplanned overdraft.
I never checked my account on the 9th so I didn't know I was overdrawn and I got payed on the 10th so didn't notice anything untill the letter :(

Is there anything I can do to stop the charge because being charged £21 for 2pence for pretty much less then 24 hours is absolutely disgusting! My penny pot at home is huge I'm going to leave it on the bank managers desk to stop this happening again!

If it is the first charge then they may well refund on the basis of your good record with them.

Or your argument is that the bank charge is disproportionate to the breach that occured ie 2p over for just 24 hours only.

Pity you didn't mention this in the OP - it has a very significant effect. You obviously were aware of the charges you were liable for as you have experienced them previously yet you still haven't done anything to prevent them.

Yes, don't leave huge amounts of money lieing around at home; much safer to keep it in a bank account.

When you've paid it in (don't know the amount, let's assume it is say £100), operate your account with the mindset not that anything below £0.00 will incur you in fees but that anything below £100.00 will incur you in fees. This will essentially give you a £100 leeway before you do actually incur any fees.

Once you've managed to get your account handling on a good track for a while, together with your regular income, enquire about the possiblity of a planned overdraft. If you can get one of those, then you can go back to operating the account on the mindset that anything below £0.00 will incur fees ... and with Lloydstsb, even if you do bust that by just 2p for 24 hours, you won't be charged.

    Good luck! :)

Same sort of thing happened to me but with a credit card. I paid off the card but due to a days interest or something I owed them 4p. Next statement didn't arrive and I assumed this was because i didn't owe anything. I then got letter to say as I hadn't paid they were applying charges. I phoned them and said I couldn't believe they had paid for paper, ink, envelope, stamp and someones time to let me know I owed 4p and were applying charges. They laughed, agreed it was ridiculous, refunded the charges and cancelled the 4p. It might be worth you trying a call.

For future information, you should always get a statement the following month even if you think you've paid of the outstanding balance in full.

The reason being is that there will be at least one transaction ... the payment of the outstanding balance, showing no outstanding balance that month.
