Maternity Allowance

Hi,Just wondered if hand written wage slips are acceptable for proof of earnings when claiming maternity allowance.I know for housing benifit they do not allow them as proof and I have to get my employer to fill out a form from the council. There is no mention of this being a problem on the form but would like to be sure before sending the form off. Thanks Teresa

It will depend on the payslips contents. If in doubt, JCP will confirm the details with your E/R.0

They are very detailed with all the deductions etc but instead of being printed they fill them in by hand.Like you said if there are problems hopefully they will have the sense to contact my employer.0 -
I sent my handwritten ones in but they still wrote to my employer to confirm the information on them.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

Thanks for that.At least I know they won't send them back to me asking for more info.I will be leaving my work before I make my claim so better part on good terms if I will need them to confirm info.0 -
Just found another possible problem my wifes last employer is no longer trading and we have no idea of his home address details.Just wondering what would happen if they try to write to the company for proof she worked there.Should we add a note on the form expaining the company is no longer open? Thanks Simon0

Sorry your above posts don't quite make sense.....in first one, you state 'I will be leaving work before I make my claim'......and then secondly 'my wife's last employer is no longer trading'. Could be a case of both husband and wife using same account.....but if the employer is not trading anymore, but you are still working there.....hmmmm
I would imagine that there is some information on the Company's register that they would be able to locate the company owner still if they were a LTD company, or if they have ceased trading, they should be traceable still through HMRC.0 -

Sorry I did not make it clear that the employer which is no longer trading is her last employer and she is going to leave her current employer shortly. Two different companys but she will need to include them both on her claim form to cover the 26 weeks work which is needed to make a claim.0
