Hi
Got a dvd recorder so I can put my mini dv camcorder into it, plus use it as it says on the box-however i can not seem to get a signal.
I have it conected to my tv with a scart lead-tried to tune it in fuzzy picture-looked in the book it came with-says best to connect it to back of tv with scart lead- any ideas?
Sorry have a girl day!!

DVD recorder will probably have a "built in " tuner like a video recorder so you can watch one program while recording another....
Simple connections: plug TV aerial first into DVD recorder, use RF loop out (aerial) out of dvd recorder into back of tv.Connect scart from DVD recorder to TV, then view DVD recorder output on TV using scart connection probably AV button on your TV remote. Once you see DVD recorder screen on TV, will probably display make of DVD recorder on screen, press menu button on DVD recorder remote, press menu button on DVD remote, then probably select "auto install" option on menu. DVD recorder will then tune in to all receivable terrestial TV stations in your area.
Now if you want to add a sky box....thats another set of instructions...hope that helps.

generally you loop it in ( from main ariel, or via other boxes) and then out againAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Portable has a scart socket and I should just plug areial bit into other aireal bit right? Like i do when i connect freeview to it.
It works as a player- it`s just receiving tv signal thats a problem.April Grocery challange £175

To record from its own tuner ( which I assume its got) the DVD will need a RF feed ( ariel) - either direct,, split or looped via qsomething esle. To record off cable / sky you may have a either a scart input or poss RF .
To show pictusres on TV ( ie playing DVD) you will need connection ( most likely scart)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
As said before, you need to loop your rf cables. this is how it should be done
1) Your sky box is the main system so everything has to run from this.
2) Why would you still need video recorder as this is no good now as you have a dvd recorder and you cannot connect both to the sky box!!!!!
3) First take aerial lead and plug into back of sky box marked aerial
4) Next take the another rf lead from sky box marked tv and join to back of tv
5) Now take another rf lead and on back of sky box where it says video and join it to back of dvd recorder where it says tv
You will now have a signal!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IGNORE any instructions given by your dvd recorder on connections and always REMEMBER that everything must go through your sky box0 -
Forgot to mention but scart leads will NOT give you a signal. These are only for picture quality Not signal. You will only get this from your main aerial!!!!!!!!!!0

The Sky box does not have the aerial pluged into it, the aerial is plugged into the back of the video player.
So am I right in thinking, if I unplug aerial from back of video player and plug into dvd recorder, then scart from dvd player into back of tv it will work? And i will be ok to unplug cable lead from cable box tovideo as no longer needed?
