Car Insurance for Women

Hi

I need to renew my mum's car insurance by the end of the month. Does anyone know of the different car insurance companies there are for women only. More importantley do they tend to be cheaper compared to other car insurance companies???

PS: does anyone know of car insurance companies who gurantee to beat other companies. Barclays was able to match the nearest cheapest offer in relation to Home Insurance. I am just wondering if there are any insurance companies which do the same for cars....

Thanks in advance in ppl

When I've looked at the women only car insureres there has always been a cheaper "mixed" insurance (over many years of driving).

Churchill's Ad says they will beat any quote if you have 3 year NCB.

Try Diamond or Sheila's Wheels (Diamond seems ok to me.. but Sheila wouldn't quote me on my car!).

    Have you tried confused.com???

It's still worth shopping around and calling a few 'general' ones as well. When I tried it they didn't work out any cheaper - it was actually cheaper to take out a mixed policy with my husband as an additional driver than to have a women only policy for me.

I've been with Diamond for around 3 years, Sheila's Wheels quoted more (me + both parents). Also, the Post Office has a good deal on currently with £50 off in vouchers / money when you take out the policy. My mother has had no problems with hers, my brother has had a good deal with his (he had a claim around 1 month after taking up the insurance and they've been great with him) and I've just arranged dad's with them today.

When I asked for a quote for my mum on my old car with Diamond they weren't the cheapest - think they're more designed for 20 - 40 year olds and other companies may be better outside this bracket - would shop around anyway. They asked the same price for mum's policy as I had with them 3 years before - I sold my car to mum nearly 3 years ago.

Just a note, I won't be renewing my insurance with them, I had one claim (someone hit and ran - which I had to claim off my own insurance), that one went through ok - garage were great, but days after that was repaired a neighbour hit my car, other garage were great too but - unfortunately I would say the service I got from their legal / repair's team was quite dire - unable to get information from them, they wouldn't call engineers, they told me car was written off 2 weeks after smash when it was only 3 panels at most damaged and definately not written off, took 2 weeks to agree to repair damage to alloy wheel that was damaged in impact, would return calls when specifically asked to return calls - in the end I had to request a manager to call and then I had calls returned and ok'd for alloy to be done etc. Maybe also the fact that as no one was injured I wouldn't take out a compensation claim too, don't know, roll on June for me to change my policy.

Hi Kwiwgirl..just to confirm - are you saying that diamond are not great when you claimed?

I'm looking for insurance (1st timer) and they seem to be the cheapest - I thought I'd do a quick search in the forums, and all I seem to be finding is people like yourselves having a bad experience with diamond after having to make a claim!!!!

Isnt this a bit sexist "women only" , there would be an outrage if it was "men only" insurance wouldnt there

In my experience women only insurers can sometimes be more expensive. If you try confused.com they will search most companies for you, including the women only ones
