I've got one of those wonderful get rich quick Paypal scams from an MSN email addrress. Normally I just delete them but I've had enough of them so want to do my bit in getting this planks email shut down. I know they only open another email address but at least it inconveniences them!
But, how do I go about reporting them and to who?

That would be very unfair as you don't know who the spam came from. Almost certainly not from the email address it displays. In the past I've had my one of my domains used as return address of spam and it's not pleasant getting irate emails accusing me of being a spammer when the I.P address origin of the spam is blatantly china or somewhere."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

What do you mean it is unfair?
I have the email address this email came from and I want to report them. I actually think it's unfair that I have to receive this sh!te everyday! :rolleyes:0 -
How do you know you have email address of where it came from?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It says from Joe Bloggs then gives the email address!0 -
Well when you send an email (especially important when you are a spammer) you can type anything in the "from" field. I'm willing to bet the spam did NOT come from that email address. People have used my email address before as the "from" in the email, it doesn't mean I'm a spammer does it? And reporting my email address wouldn't achieve anything."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Well if it's someone elses account maybe that person would appreciate me reporting that their email address is being used fraudulently (sp)!
Anyway does anyone know how I go about reporting it?0 -
You could try reporting the spam to the true origin of the email which will be an IP address found in the email header which you'll have to do a reverse IP lookup to find the person of organisation responsible for that range of IP addresses and they'll usually have an abuse contact. But it won't be anything to do with the email address you see."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thanks very much.

Just ignore it. Spam is a fact of life and just because it says that it came from fred.smith@yourisp.com doesn't mean that it actually did. Spammers commonly spoof the from field, to an address that you are familiar with, so that you will open the email.
The IP doesn't help much, so just learn to live with :spam::doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
