Husband is on JSA. We have a daughter who is 18 nearly 19 who is almost finished collage,18th june.
She has got a job and we are wondering how this will affect our benefits as she lives at home.(which we are glad about)?
As i said JSA,child benefit and housing benefit, 16 contracted hours a week.
Thank you.

You will lose your child benefit and tax credits and gain the money your daughter pays for her keep.0

And lose a bit on you LHA (housing benefit)0

At the moment i am not working And hubbie claims for me.
Thank you, its the housing benefits i am worried about. I am phoning them all on Monday to state she is leaving on the 18th.0 -
For LHA/Housing Benefits, they are called "Non-dependant deductions" and equate to the amount a non dependant should be expected to contribute towards rent. The amount is based on HER gross income. It's not too draconian.....
Earning less than £120.00 Deduction is £7.40
Earning £120.00 to £177.99 £17.00
Earning £178.00 to £230.99 £23.35
Earning £231.00 to £305.99 £38.20
Earning £306.00 to £381.99 £43.50
Earning £382.00 or more £47.750 -
hehe, thanks Wee Willy Harris - I think I might just show that to my son who is now in full time employment and conveniently forgetting that he needs to pay room and board! Of course, I'll show it to him AFTER he's eaten his dinner tonight and gets presented with his dining bill
I'm such a mean mum - but he'll appreciate it one day! (I hope!) 0 -
Don't forget, it's the same for council tax benefit too! And, if a single parent, he may have cost you the single persons discount!!0
