Not claim back but claim as a business expense against profits. You can claim a proportion of light heat and rates for the room which you use.

Sorry, apologies. I am a sales rep and, as such, work from home.
    Does this still apply?
    Kind regards

Are you employed or self-employed ?
  • The rules are different for employees and sole traders.

Employees can only claim something if their contract of employment states that their home address is the main place of work. There is an allowance of £3 per week that applies here.

Yes you can - for the £3 per week. You can claim up to 6 years in arrears. I'm coming up on five years in the next couple of months, so going to apply in a couple of weeks and have a nice little bonus for school holidays :)

Yes when you call and ask them for the forms, ask for the form for each year that you wish to claim for up to 6 years backdated.
  • The £3 per week for employees who are required to work from home used to be £2. So if you go back 6 years you may get some years at the lower amount.
