Benefit claim/paypal/budget accounts????

Hi guy's i just hope you can put my mind at rest.

Just had our ct/hb claims sorted and obviously gave them bank statements etc.
I have been selling stuff on e-bay (my own de-cluttering and kids old stuff, just to clarify) and we had £60 that i transfered to my bank account, council now want to see paypal statements, im presuming that i can just print them off, but im worried that they might take that money off us, its prob only a couple of hundred pounds that we'd made plus its been spent anyway on stuff for the kids, clothes, trainers etc. Are they likely to see this as income.

Plus since putting in my claim i have opened 2 online savings accounts, which are connected to my current account to transfer money into for bills like tax, xmas etc.
Should i inform them of these accounts, and any money in them, there not savings there for bills.

Im a little unsure, i don't want to do anything wrong???

Thanks............
Im not financially savvy as im still learning but i love to support anyone that needs it and give virual hug's and tea!!!

Yes they will want to know of any money that you have. As all money together might add up to over the 6k lower limit for savings. Doesnt matter what the money is there for, they need to know about it

:rotfl:Sorry in my dreams would i ever get that amount of money!!!

In 1 account is about £70

and the other about £600, £500 of which is a council tax refund from my landlord as the property was rebanded and backdated and we'd already paid him, this will now be used to pay our council tax bill (the council are aware of this refund as they have a copy of the reciept)

    Thanks

Bottom line again - if you have nothing to hide - give them what they want! They might find it suspicious with money being transferred out of an account to another account, yet you haven't given them information on that account - doesn't matter if it's for paying bills or not - they have SOME of the info on your statements, you would do yourself a favour and save alot of headache if you just give them what they have asked for, which would be 'all bank accounts' info and statements.

  • It's pretty standard practiceand nothing to worry about. The documents provided have indicated other accounts which may contain sums of money. They just want to know how much to satisfy themselves that you are below the £6k. The onus is on you to prove that you don't have £6k, not on them to prove that you do. Without ANY evidence at all, they can withold payment until you satisfy them of your entitlement.

Thanks guys!!! I knew really but you know what it's like just need to get confirmation. I would hate to do anything wrong.

So with the £6k amount does that mean it is okay if i try to start savings to make a full and final on one of my debts, i could possiblely try and keep the £500 refund and make the council tax payments from my budget or do you think its best just to use this and pay it off the council tax.

Yes you can save all you want! But as soon as you reach 6k your entitlement lowers.
