At least, they should have.
Lol, I think they should have a rule that only polite people can pay their mortgages early and rude people should have an extra 10 years added on to theirs:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -

Thanks Liuhut for keeping an eye on me as I have a tendency to slip. I have been making regular payments of only £60 still.
Darling hubby thinks it is a pot for him lol. But have explained to him that this is not coming of our family budget but the monies we were paying to the mtge before the rates dropped so low.
I think he is a 'more money in my pocket' type lol.
I think it will be better to pay it towards the mtge but will perservere. oh have opened the A/c for kids but discovered can only pay max £100 per mth so will try to keep it up for the full yr. so another £2400 at 6%. for the kids;) (the roof over there heads)sealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198

Just a quick update to make sure that I stay on track-Have been paying the regular £60 and this month dropped an extra £60 in it.
Have booked our visit to see hubbys family overseas and have put that on the c/card- hoping to pay it of with his holiday pay and xmas bonus.
I am hoping to keep the payments in a savings account for as long as I can with our rate being low but My dear hubby can sometimes go on a bit>>>re what we are going to be doing when we are mtge free - paying towards our childrens education.sealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198

6 months on>
Hi am still here:hello:
Just a quick update as I have neglected the diary though the mission of being MW is still going strong.
Since the last update-- six months ago:o we have made some serious savings...
in Jan my Dh sold his car and has his old car back with the new scratch courtesy of moi:A.
I have found that I really don't miss the car as was only really using it to nip to the shops. That habit has been stopped thanks to mse ways we now have a fortnightly meal plan that the kids help set up so all are happy.
Have been stocking up on bargains via the Grabbit board.
We had our family holiday which was a great break and was on budget. (xmas bonus and hol pay covered it)
Hubby has been great with helping save and if he needs to buy anything asks me to check if we can get it cheaper-via quidco.
He got a £30 off code on his work shoes:T
have used quidco to buy home insurance and car insurance.
Isas are getting regular top ups. Child savers account are also getting the regular topups.
I am still using the cc to shop as the vouchers for bhs helps towards the clothing budget(uniforms/ holiday clothes).
Ebay is banned for a while as we still end up buying.
I have found this forum a great inspiration and help.sealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198

This is really turning into a 6mth update thread lol
I have stuck to the savvy ways of MSE.
My OPs that were sitting in my account have been accumilating and I will be topping them up with the savings I have made from the reduced DD on the utilities and the phone bill reduction. I am hoping to repay £2k towards the £26k that will be going up from a lovely 1.15% to the halifax SVR.
I was just getting into the meal planning and stocking up on whoopsies when my freezer died.:o I am hoping to find a bargain in the jan sales as would like a new one as the last one was a freebie and only lasted 6mth.
The shopping experience is brill as I stick to a list depending on the meals planned. I have stocked up on cat food and detergent when on offer which has saved on the extra spending when I nipped out for the cat food.
Bless my son even helps by finding a value alternative. (Though refuses to compromise on his Jammies dodgers).
I feel that the goal of MF has made us more aware of the money we wasted before. My biggest waste was heating costs. I have these wall heaters that were supposed to be economical to use and I remember once it was switched on in sept and only got turned off in dec as we went away for xmas:o. THe house was always warm... even when it was empty:o:eek:.
Nowadays the house is still comfortable but that is due to having a curtain put in the drafty hallway and the locks fixed on the upstairs windows( they were not closing all the way:o) There are fleece blankets on the sofas that the kids (and us) use whilst watching tv.
The heating was not switched on till the last week of Oct and only now is on a timer and kicks in before we get up in the morning and before bedtime so the bedrooms are nice and warm.(all thanks to OS board)
I try to make all xmas /birthday pressies purchases through Quidco/TCB I have not made much but then I dont spend as much as I used to thanks to the Grabbit board:T
My kids accounts 'matured' last month but due to lazyness have not sorted out new ones or looked into it yet:o.
hoping to go make the op in the coming weeks and then next year will [STRIKE]try to[/STRIKE] be making monthly OPs.sealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198

Just an update to make sure I don't start slacking.
My regular op are now up and running.
My lovely 1.15% became a 3.5% in January. And was soon to become a 3.99% as Halifax are putting up the svr in May. I found a 2 yr fix with them at 3.49% as my ltv is below 60%.
From getting focused on the mtge we have become so aware of what we spend our money on. My winter bills were a great surprise and the account was in credit. By making savings to our weekly spend we can also afford to take the kids to London for the Easter break.(something we never done before as could never afford it)
So thanks to the wonderfull dairies on here they are a great inspiration and though I rarely post am a silent lurker who is helped immensely.sealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198
