MSE recommended site will keep cold calling you!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to point out that the Moneyextra website that is listed under Credit card balance transfer & Use a ‘credit worthiness' comparison heading, will start cold calling you more or less as soon as you go through the 'soft credit check' and enter all your details on their website.

I had done this a few months back and was getting 4 or 5 missed calls a day from someone with an 08** number, finally when I answered it was some loans broker - I know they got my details from this website as I had used my wifes name on the form but using my mobile number, so they were calling asking for Mrs X.

Today, I have done the same thing and 5 mins later, low & behold I was called, this time by 0844 245 1530 trying to flog services to reclaim PPI, asking for Mrs X

Just thought I'd warn you (maybe a note can go on the MSE web) that your info is likely to be passed all over from this website.

I've just had a closer look at that site and on the very first page, assuming I'm looking at the right bit, it says "By submitting this form you agree to be contacted by one of our preferred partners"

And it's not exactly small print either.

Not on the page via the credit card comparison it doesn't.....

Go to credit cards & click answer 5 quick questions.... Not a mention!

Oh and they spam you as well....

Oh well in that case I apologise.

I've looked through the Terms and Conditions for the 5 questions here

    http://www.moneyextra.com/legal/terms.php

There is nothing about sharing personal details there.

They use Callcredit Ltd as a Credit Reference Agency and provide your credit report to HD Decisions Ltd. I've checked the Terms and Conditions for both of these companies and I can't see any mention of either of them contacting you or passing your details on to 3rd parties.

However on Moneyextra's privacy policy it does say this:

Occasionally, we may also contact you by phone, e-mail or otherwise to inform you about products and services which may be of interest to you. However, if you prefer to opt out of such direct marketing activity, please either call Moneyextra.com Ltd's Customer Services team on 0845 077 7085, email us or let us know by any means convenient for you so that we may remove your personal data from our marketing database.

It was a lot of chasing around to find that information which was fairly well hidden away. Very sneaky of Moneyextra and I don't blame you for getting upset.
