credit ratings - are they connected to address?

My heart goes out to people who are truly being aggressively hassled by Intrum Justitia and my situation is not so sickening. However, I do have a problem with them.
My concern is that Intrum Justitia have been sending demands for payment to an individual who does not and never has lived at my address. Intrum Justitia refuse to acknowledge my statement that they have the wrong address and refuse to stop sending demands for payment. I think I have heard that a credit rating is connected to an address. Could this debt registered with Intrum Justitia against my address be a big problem for my credit rating? If so, HOW do I get Intrum Justitia to acknowledge and rectify their error? I have tried asking the Financial Ombudsman for assistance but they quite expectedly seem to have more urgent problems to deal with.
With thanks in advance for any advice,
ELM29

Get a copy of your credit report from someone like Exeperin (spelling??) and make sure nothing untoward on there .,.. if ok, write not know at this address on any letters recieved from Intrum / post back to them / no stamps - hopefully they will get the message!!

Credit ratings are attached to individuals and not addresses. Just to be on the safe side check your credit rating on Experian. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
