Where should i take it. Any ideas? What's the council place that does Ambulances and such like? What is an average cost for the MOT excluding and repairs.
MOT due end of the month, but should i take it in early or wait until a few days before??
Thanks

Just called the council mot centre. will cost £54.85 for the test...eeek!
Farmers autocare is £27.50 and so is nationwide autocentre0 -
Council MOT center. Get it done sooner than later. Its no good doing it a couple of days before it expires and finding it needs work which you can't get done before the test expires because once it has, you can't legally drive the car.0

But that costs more. Why would i take it there??0

The council MOT centre will do exactly that. MOT the car. With anyone else you dont know/trust, you run the risk of it costing more in the long run.0

The cheap price is to get you in the door.
The garage then has a vested interest in finding fault to sell you parts and take more money off you.
The MOT test costs £54.85 so if the garage is charging you £27 you can pretty much guarantee that they'll find enough faults to get their £27 from you somehow.
Maybe I'm just cynical though.

I'd use a local independent garage with a decent price - not just the cheapest.
Almost all MOTs need follow up work so some of the highstreet use low cost MOTs to get you in the door.
If you fail the MOT then you will have to pay their rates to get it back on the road.0 -
Dalziels in pit street Leith ,their only an M.O.T test centre so have no interest in failing a car in order to fix and charging a fortune like the bigger companies ,ive used them for years and there great ,cheers0
