Mmmm he sounds just like your average coal miners son.

Sorry, thats about as working class as caviar.:D

He probably wears clogs, had no roof on the cardboard box house when growing up and worked down pit 26 hours a day before walking home 20 miles to get up 2 hours before he went to bed. Luxury. ;)

    Need for executives ?.

You ever been to Eastwood or Kimberley ? ;)

Ikea might be taking on though.

I live 2miles up the road...

And this guy has experience of working away from "home", having spent 13 years commuting to and from the House of Commons. It is unreasonable for ANYONE to expect a job within 2 or three miles of their home these days.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

He is 60 years old and has a cleft pallet. I know what you're getting at and to some point I agree with you. 13 years of high mileage travelling, working odd hours etc would take it's toll on anyone and let's face it he's only 5 years or so off retirement.

With a Phd in maths, and being able to speak six languages you'd think some role in education might be a starter.

Technical translating for academic/scientific documentation, always a shortage of folk to that, and has plenty of opportunity for remote working from home.

As a freelance bookkeeper, I'll offer to advise him on starting up as a freelancer.

He could start by ringing a few universities, there's one more or less on his doorstep.

Robin, we should go into business together, advising former MPs on future employment ;) . Mind you, I'd ask for a consultancy fee up-front :rotfl:
