So predictable really that the site would go into overload during this free period. PR disaster really. At least I was already registered and I managed to complete a couple of census searches just after 7, but nothing useful since.

I've had a subscription for the last year which has just run out, I know its disppointing as i've been wanting to do a couple of searches but if your thinking of doing the free trial it is well worth it x

I have been using it tonight and tbh it has been quite slow and kept falling over, however I have managed to get quite a few results and have saved them onto my laptop to view later when the free session is over. I am subscribed to Ancestry which doesn't include the 1911 census so they are the searches I have been doing. Have to say findmypast seems easier to search than Ancestry and I imagine is just as fast normally.

Well, Saturday night was more of a Free FMP Football Fiasco and not even an apology on their website today.

If a major player in the Industry can't judge their potential client numbers (and it was very obvious that this offer would attract a huge number of such) and set their systems to cope, then it is a poor Freebie.

You may be well advised to wait for the afternoon match on 23 June as I suspect the Friday evening match will be just as bad unless they do something to substantially increase the capacity.
