2nd breakdown - will rac recover?

First broke down at the weekend, 50 miles from home with no cover. We joined rac over the phone and paid for emergency roadside assistance at a cost of £135.
The rac guy who came out was fantastic, arrived within 10 mins and proceeded to spend the next 2 hours working on the car. In this time he diagnosed the fault to be low fuel pressure and managed to narrow the problem down to being either a relay or an intermittant fault with the fuel pump.
He managed to get us going again and would follow us for a couple of miles in case we cut out again - which we did at the first roundabout. He then narrowed the problem down to the actual fuse board, and arranged recovery home as he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't cut out on the motorway. We got home at 10.30 that night, replaced the fusebox the next day and the cars been running fine.
My husband went to work this morning and its happened again about a mile from home, he had to leave it and go to work, but the car will not start at all now, does anyone know if we are we able to call the rac out again to recover it to a garage even though it is the same fault as before?

Shouldn't be a problem if you have repaired the original fault, the fusebox. If you had done nothing at all they get upset.

Well you have repaired it (perhaps not the right bit) so just have the receipt with you.

I'm not sure how they work as I am sure some will use them as a mobile repair service which I imagine they will put a stop too after awhile.

If it was me and the car was only a mile or so away I would probably tow it back myself (or ask a friend) and try to keep myself in credit with them so to speak.

But I reckon you should be OK this time, ask them though what the form is or check your T&C's first.

They impose a limit on the number of callouts they will attend depending on the type of cover you have:

basic: 1 (2 for joint cover)

personal cover or vehicle based cover: 5 (6 for joint)

The only fault they won't do a free repeat call for is battery failure - if they come out to a failed battery, then any subsequent callouts for the same battery you have to pay for.

I'm not sure which cover we paid for as I've not received any paperwork as of yet. I haven't got another car to be able to tow it ourselves, also we would then still have to get it to the garage. At the same time I don't want to break any rules of membership and end up with a huge bill for being towed if we're not covered. The problem is obviously not something that can be fixed by the roadside so I'm not using them as a repair service.

Just call them out. If there's any problem they will say if you face any costs, which is unlikely as they only cite repeat calls for the same flat battery as being chargeable.

I've called them and they're going to come out for me. Thankyou for all the help.
