Ignore this post. I had hoped to set up something of a helpdesk as an employee of a major financial institution, however I can see this would quickly generate the wrong kind of attention from the wrong kind of people who can't focus very well on the subject at hand, so I'll help elsewhere in specific threads.

spurious wrote:Hello everybody. I thought I'd offer my help on here as an employee of Barclays, and most importantly, their 'Consumer Finance (Debt Management)' department. While I can't obviously offer any official advice on behalf of the company in a professional context or offer any confidential information, I can answer any questions you might have pertaining to your rights and privledges as a consumer - you know, the kind of stuff that banks like to keep to themselves.
Isn't your whole paragraph a contradiction? I know you are trying to be helpful, but I am sure Barclays would not be happy with some of the information you have given above. You say you can't offer any confidential information yet you have done that in several of your posts. You are putting yourself at risk of dismissal by putting stuff about internal procedures on a public website.0 -

spurious wrote:Thanks for your concern, but it's unwarranted. There's a difference between information that's industry-sensitive and for which disclosure would warrant dismissal, and information that's public domain but that the bank would simply rather not have advertised, and I'm aware of that line. Information can look more sensitive then it actually is simply because we live in a culture where such information is unecessarily withheld from the consumer so that they can be screwed over further by organisations like the one we're discussing here.
The information that you have posted here is industry sensitive and it also dicusses Barclays internal procedures. You are putting yourself at risk of dismissal by posting that kind of information on here. You don't need to work in a bank to realise that. If you feel the public are screwed by your company then why do you choose to work for them?0 -
M. Thomson, I refer you to my previous post. That said, your posts have reminded me of the nature of some internet forum users so I've decided to abandon this in it's current form.0
