When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D

Gooooooooooooood morning lovely people - I'm up early and saw the thread wasn't started yet so the temptation was too much, i had to start:rotfl:
I'm not bad now - have been lurking and reading all your busy posts. I'm recovering, slowly, from my op....tis good to be back!!

Not too much DFW-ness going on, mind you am not going out so not really spending anything. But here goes, will write a little list!!
  • check banking - my spending account has £350 in it as I've not been spending!! So will move most of it to savings:T
  • daily scratch
  • post sale from AMazon - use Royal Mail online and send one of the girls to postbox;)
  • meal from plan tonight - jacket pots
  • NSD apart from the postage
  • Put a washing on tonight once uniforms are finished with
  • friend coming for a cuppa and catch up later
  • gentle tidy up:o
  • evening of tv with my girlies:D
Hope all well - congrats to Rachel on the new job:beer:
I really need to sort out a new signature!

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllllllllly! Welcome back! Glad to hear you are recovering and are back at home with your girls. Big hugs!

I've got some mega spends coming up!! :o

And so much for my NSD yesterday - was helping out with wedding bits and bobs (I'm bridesmaid tomorrow) and they said they'd give us tea...then encouraged us and everyone else to phone out for a curry (mentioned it about 3 times, kept saying where to go to find the menus etc) and then asked us to pay... I would've been happy with toasted cheese or a baked tattie (and I have a dress to fit into so curry wasn't what I needed!) but was kinda put on the spot. :(

    Today I'm going to:
    • Go shopping with a list
    • Use the spa voucher I got for my birthday and chillax! :D
    • Buy cards from M&S and get some more stamps on my loyalty card - buy 6 and get the next free
    • Check into our mega posh hotel suite for £125 a night! Not sure how this is DFWesque at all but I am in shock and had to share!
Check back later with everyone - the suite has free wireless Internet...

    xx

Oooh, forgot to say - got a swimming cossie yesterday with my voucher - £20 exactly! :D I get 7.5% discount on vouchers too so really cost me £18.50.

(Only reason I got it for that is because it was half price!!! Do folk seriously spend £40 on a tankini thing?!!)

Morning all :hello: Yay to Milly posting! :j:j

I finished uni for the year yesterday! :) Go back on 6th September! :) Lots of things planned for the summer - doing 6-7 shifts a month at old old job, uni reading, working on garden, bits around the house, catching up with people, holiday in 2 weeks time....but will manage to fit in relaxing time too! Feel I deserve it...I've worked so blooming hard! :)

    On with the list....
    • Write shopping list and menu plan
    • Pup to dog groomers at 10am
    • Pay in cheque - recieved for travel expenses when I was on placement :)
    • Weekly shop
    • Quick tidy of house
    • Text couple of friends
    • Email uni - end of year review comments
    • Check uni website - an essay mark should be out today
    • Orangise last month's worth of lecture notes into folders
    • Pop into friends this afternoon
    • Write letter to council
    • Finish garden book and write down ideas
    • Party tonight :) Getting train into city later this afternoon, meeting couple of friends for a drink then onto party. DH will pick me or will get a lift back from a friend :)
    Have a lovely day all

Welcome back Millie, don't forget to take it gently ;)
    Morning All

Well I went to the drycleaners yesterday to find the cost of cleaning cat pee & poo off the sofa and it was £40 for the cover and £3.99 for each cushion (x 6 then) - forgot to ask about the arm cover thingies though. Came home and started to remove the beautiful tailored white brocade covers that we had made 3 years ago and have barely sat upon since. And there, to my delight were washing instructions :j:j:j So I spent the afternoon washing and saved myself £60+ :D They've come up clean too, despite the stuff being on them for around 3 weeks.

    So today I have/will:
Popeye and I have a 200 mile round trip to pick up our bargain car this afternoon/evening, so we'll drive economically.
Tidy the sitting room and make it nice now the sofa is clean:D
    Woopsied pizza for lunch
Check vouchers and plan where to eat when we visit the outlaws this weekend - a bit of preparation saves loads and ensures we get a bargain- FIL always impressed!

And buy a Mirror today for the Lidl voucher :D (£5 off £30 spend)

Have a great day everyone :A

Fingers crossed for sunshine littlekel! And I did laugh at you not going swimming to save the money you spent on lunch :rotfl:

Read back this morning, but have since spent an hour on phone to van insurance people, and forgotten it all :p Welcome back Milly though, and congratulations again to Rachel! Apologies to everyone else for forgetting your news...

My list for today is HUGE, and the day is half gone, and I've done hardly any of it. Ah well, here goes...

    * next stage of bathroom DIY :rotfl:
    * put washing away
    * plant out free tomato plants
    * PhD stuff - lots of :rotfl:
    * book online train tickets for work on Monday and print

    * cheery bath
    * put CDs on magpie (I think)
    * find 5 things to ebay :p

    Happy Friday everyone!

Don't know what it's like with you, but it's just started to clear up and get sunny here in London, which brings me to my DFW list for today - so far I have:
    • Bought postage bags from Poundland rather than P.O - costs 99p for 6 instead of 50p for 1 :)
    • Charged mobiles at work
    • Turned off plugs at wall before leaving house
    • Brought lunch from home
    • Got cheque from Mopay for my mobile!! £62 thank you very much! :j
    • Indulged in free tea and biccies at work
    • Joined myfitnesspal website for tracking food and exercise (not sure if this is DFW stuff)
    • Sold another item on Ebay and posted it off
    And I still have to:
    • Walk home in the gorgeous FRIDAY sunshine!
    • Buy the £1.09 2l carton my milk from the corner shop rather than Sainsburys
    • Set up online banking for my new A&L current account
    • Print off my Dad's Father's Day card
    • Do the weekly grocery shop according to my meal plan
    Think that's it for now.

OliveOyl: good work with the avoidance of the dry cleaning bill!
La escosesa: have fun at the wedding!

Hope everyone's having a good day!

    Jo :)
