ESA not been paid this week?!

I've been claiming ESA for about 6 weeks now, but had it backdated to when I began receiving treatment for PTSD and Bipolar disorder. I'm only 17 and genuinely want to sort myself out and get back to work - I love working.

Now my fortnightly payments so far have been £100. I've completed all the medical paperwork, and haven't been asked to go to a full medical - possibly on the strength of my psychiatric assessment previously.

Most of my application was done by a social worker.

I pretty much rely on ESA at the moment, with no other forms of income (obviously). However, I was expecting a payment yesterday and I had nothing.. I went to the bank they knew nothing, and now its Friday morning at 2am+ and I still have no payment.

Im wondering what could've caused this and why haven't I been informed at all?! All that has changed in the last two weeks is I have opened a savings account - with only £1; so nothing major I haven't declared.

The things I purchased included a domain name and web hosting - for when I'm well enough to work. (I was doing programming before and would like to go freelance) The only other thing is I created a paypal account and verified it - once again, ready for when I am able to work/sell things. BUT I HAVE HAD NO ACTUAL TRANSACTIONS - This is all a bit of a pipe dream right now. I even had an ambulance out the other day when I hyperventilated and had a panic attack; I'm nowhere near well enough to work.

So I don't see why anything would be wrong - I mean unless they could see what I had purchased and presumed I was trading now. But surely they would contact me first?!

I had to go to a girlfriends family meal today.. skint, I have 15p in my account now. My web host company is waiting for £10. I need to go out and get essentials.. I'm stuck!

Im gonna ring the JobCenter up tomorrow - but what else can I do?! Or why could this have happened?

Have you rung the DWP and asked them why it has not been paid?

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Going to do that tomorrow - I assume I ring the Jobcenter plus. I have tried to ring but I just missed their office hours.

Was mainly curious to see if this had happened to anyone else, its really worrying me now. :/
  • Could be any one of a hundred reasons. No-one on here would know. Try and get some sleep and sort it out in the morning.
  • Just got off the phone (still havent slept) - turns out that my sick certificate ran out on the 6th on June. I asked him if they usually sent reminders.. "We don't always send reminders out, we like people to try and keep records".

Records or not a reminder would've stopped a whole lot of worry. Also, how is someone supposed to keep records if their claim was made through a social worker and they never actually saw the medical certificates?! Looks like I'll be getting onto the doctor now.

Perhaps the Social Worker should have kept records?

  • Yeah, Maybe the Social Worker should have - but she wasn't the one to lose out! I thought the last one was open-ended though, I'm obviously wrong though!

I will definitely be keeping track of this one!
  • The main thing is that it's all sorted out now.

Sicklines are the reason most peoples money goes out late or doesnt go out at all.

Its not the DWP's fault when people dont send them sicklines. Take this as a lesson to try and keep on top of things.
