Motorola mobile phone - rubbish!!!

I have had mobile phones for the last 15 years+ and NEVER had a problem with any of them till now. The first half dozen were Nokia, then I changed to Samsung - all of them were faultless during each 12 month contract.
For no reason I can fathom, I thought a change would be nice and in February of this year took delivery of a Motorola. What a pile of carp it is!
I am already on the second one and am currently waiting for a third to be delivered since this one (as the first one) freezes for no reason, switches itself off and gives out a screen message saying the battery is invalid

The first one went faulty after just 3 months and I was told I would be sent a reconditioned one in exchange. When I complained that I was paying insurance and expected a new phone in exchange, I was told that I wouldn't get a new one because this one wasn't broken, only faulty - what????
Oh, and I was also warned that if, when they got the phone back, it turned out not to have a fault, they would take £50 from my bank account. I had already told them the fault was intermittent, so that worried me as well.

This time I've been told I will get another reconditioned one but they won't exchange the battery since it's over 6 months old (6½ months) and if the battery turns out to be at fault I will have to buy a new one.

To add insult to injury, I'm on an 18 month contract this time.

Never, ever again will I have a Motorola, and I have finally had my lot of Vodafone. I've always been with Vodafone, but my next phone will be Orange.

Why is customer service and satisfaction so unimportant to these people?
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

  • I'm not on contract but my motorola V3 plays up aswell. Got it in February

I did drop it down the loo, but it recovered. After doing so the bluetooth light came on at the front and wouldn't turn off. I wasn't even aware it was there in the first place and when I first got it I played around with it switched bluetooth on a few times and I didn't notice the light.

The battery also runs out after a day and it freezes quite a lot aswell. I can't claim that this would have happened prior to the bog incident but somehow, I suspect it would have:rolleyes:

My V3 has been back twice.

Kept switching itself off and when it was on it would automatically go to the WAP function, on and off, on and off.

The keypad wouldn't work at all either no matter which buttons I pressed.

It's working OK now touch wood, but if it dies on me, I'd never get another moto again.
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...
  • i have heard a lot of bad things about the v3 prior to this, trouble is a lot of people will steer clear of motorola in the future because of this.

in reply to op, i had 5 reconditioned nokia 6230s off voda, 4 of which broke in a matter of weeks.
am thinking 'broken' means died, faulty means switches on but doesn't function properly?
when customer definition is 'broken' means not working as is supposed to?
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

I only ever got one motorola phone but it failed within a couple of weeks and I am never going to buy one again. It began to switch itself off so I sent it to a motorla repair centre and it was promptly sent back informing me that the fault was caused by liquid damage and that they are not liable for such repairs. This is absolute nonsense as in the short period of time I had it I never took it into a wet environment(not even into steamy bathrooms or a outside when it was raining). Afaic there is no way that the phone was damaged by liquids when motorola received it and I no longer trust them. I really think that they were simply unable to repair it and perhaps did not want to send out a replacement to save on money. They will lose out as I get a new phone every year just not motorolas anymore.

my ROKR wont let me put my own ringtones on! says its doing it, but when I check, there is nothing there! Try to "download2 from their site, and it tell me the memory is full??!!! How when i cant add any!!?? Check the memory status, and I have over 4/5 of memory left!

And to make it wors, I cant even delete the rubbish they have in! Im the same as you, cant upgrade as have a 18 month contract (can upgrade after 16 months) so I cant do anything till April next year!

I've checked all over it and can't see what model it is. It's not a V3 though. Was brand new in Feb, nice looking phone (flip) but it's all show, there's no quality to it at all.
