The game: Uplink - old.. but new?

Hey hey

YEARS ago in my script kiddie hacking days I played a game called Uplink. AMAZING..

Anyway.. i noticed on STEAM the other day you can buy Uplink.. release date august 2006 (original was 2001)

When checking the website it seems its the SAME game with a few patches?

I'm very confused.. anyone know if there are any major differences? or is it literally just the same game re-released?

Ah well.. no one answerd within a minute and I got too trigger happy and bought it.

Anyway, its an AMAZING game.. draws you and makes you paranoid but a very good game still..

If anyone gets it and wants a chat.. ^^

Tell you what though, Uplink is a good game though I'm stuck on level 5 missions. Can't manage to crack the password before I'm traced!!! Hmmm AH well

is it the original game or have they remade it then

im curious and looking into it, how much did it cost? need something to pass the time, and if its cheap may give it a whirl

It's the same game just that introversion have got into bed with Valve to get their games to a wider audience (they also made the very excellent Darwinia).
I stopped playing Uplink a while ago simply because it was eating too much time and was too addictive, I do need to work sometimes you know :rolleyes: Anyway I'd personally recommend both Uplink and Darwinia. And sometime next month they'll be releasing Defcon, looks like it's inspired by the Wargames film with the Global Thermonuclear War thing.

It is the same game but it is updated.. few new patches.. looks a bit better..

it costs $9.99 plus tax through steam (so about $11 all togehter)

Its amazing though.. but I'm really stuck and I can't believe I'm only on level 5 !!!!!!.;

My monitor bypass isnt slowing down any traces.. think I need to log into my route computers and delete the logs.. thats gna take forever though ARGH

LOL what level missions are you doing atm? pleeease tell me how to trace the bank information stuff.. when i try breaking admin pass i get traced way too quickly even after deleting logs that ive been bouncing through,.,

im still on the early ones, lol, slowly building up my system, currently the most advance ones ive done are the ... err ... social secuirty changing people from dead to alive and visa versa ... just got that cool gateway where "you cant get traced" and a cpu upgrade.

saving up for a level 5 monitor bypass and then same for proxy and firewall

although, i have been reading the FAQ / guide for advice, now and then :-/

The monitor bypass wont work while trying to connect to this one bank in particular so Im still getting traced
