Response to royal mail claims

Hi peeps,
I sent an item back to royal mail that had been damaged in transit but I have since had a reply saying they are very sorry but they don't believe I had packaged the item well enough. Well, I packaged the item exactly the same as it had been sent to me by the manufacturer and I want to argue this with them. To get to the point does anyone have any experience doing a response like this to disagree with them and if so do you have any form of template letter that I might adapt as I’m pretty rubbish at formal letters
thanks in advance guys

It doesn't matter if it was packaged the same as the manufacturer what matters is it was packaged sufficiently to insure adequate protection. You just need to argue this point in a clear concise way. Maybe photos of the packaging etc will help your case0

I don't think you need a template letter just proof that your item was packaged securely enough.
Was it packed sufficiently so it could be dropped onto a concrete floor from waist height? If not then the packaging was insufficient. Getting compensation for damage is notoriously difficult as it could be said that if item was broken en route then it is obvious the packaging was not good enough.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
