My dress has arrived!!

I am so excited I ordered my dress online just under 12 weeks ago and was really worried because I hadn't ever tried the dress on but didn't have the budget for a dress from a bridal shop.

I absolutely love it :j

It seriously needs taking up because it is a 50s style swing dress but I am very short and so it looks too long on me but to be honest I would have expected to have to take up a dress from a bridal shop anyway so its not an issue.

99 days til I get to wear it! can't wait!

My 50s style polka dot bridesmaid skirts have also arrived so just need to find some pretty tops to go with them.

Its all coming together nicely now after a few stressful weeks of trying to sort out bridesmaid outfits (we originally wanted dresses but had sizing issues and struggled to find polka dot dresses that would fit all three bridesmaids).

anyone else having a 50s theme? :)

im definately having a 50's style dress, would love a candy anthony but unfortunately my budget wont stretch, now thinking of either honeypie boutique or vivien of holloway, where did you get yours from miss moneypenny ?

Were getting married in new york and weve decided after the wedding were going for a proper old fashioned cream tea at alices tea cup, its a lovely tea shop, cant wait xx

  • mine is from Honeypie boutique :-) I have the marilyn in white with a red sash and then I have a custom made 4 layer red petticoat to go with it, I think it cost around £250 in total so a complete bargain.

I wasn't sure what to expect for the price but I was actually really surprised how well made it is, it is corseted and has boning (obviously not to the standard of expensive bridal dresses) but pretty decent and made me feel like it was pulling me in a fair bit.

I did look at Vivien of Holloway but like the honeypie wedding dresses better as they had more options, although if I had stuck with my original plan of wearing a polka dot dress myself I would have definately gone with a Vivien one because their patterned dresses are stunning.

Btw I love the cream tea concept, absolutely charming idea :-)

how long until your big day? xx

Oh wow, that's the dress I've been looking at :) Not having a 50s theme, I just wanted a slightly unusual dress and loved the 50s swing ones I saw.

    Glad you liked it :T

I LOVE the honeypie dresses, almost had one from them but then found something else completely different.

I am still wavering now and if it wasn't for the fact that there isn't enough time to order one before my wedding, I would seriously be putting in an order :D I'm so indecisive! :D

your dress sounds gorgeous, I'm glad you are pleased with it :j
  • Getting dress envy now, that site has some very cute dresses and I love the idea of polka dots for the bridesmaids but don't think mine would be willing to wear them unfortunately!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
