Door 2 Door Sales

One of the most irritating things about where I live is the amount of cold call door 2 door sales we get on our close , we surely must get 3 a week all the time knock knock , if its not for "better" gas its for "better" electricity , if its not "faster" broadband its "faster" tv , then comes the betterware then the charitys seriously I do my bit but jeez they really target my area for money... I offer them clothes and a few tins of food buts its all "nah mate direct debit £7 a month..." , then there is lofts , conservatories, garden extensions , tarmac, telephones and so on and on and on and on.... surely there must be a law to prevent this happening so often in one neighbourhood, years ago it was simply easy to put the phone down but now they knock on the door and if your like me and tell them straight soon as you open the door before they try to fire their "drilled into 10 sec sales pitch" to simply "f*** off" they look at you so devastated as if their product just was non turndownable , they knocked on here once at 845pm , I went NUTS...I gripped the lad and took him to his car and told him he ever knocked on any of the doors round my way again itd be his door getting a visit next , but rather than resort to violence to get rid of them it surely is something a local council can prevent ?

Wow, you proud of yourself? What an outstanding member of our community. I hope that the police are the next ones to knock on your door, lets see if you are so quick to get violent with them!

If you read Martin's MSE weekly email, you will notice last week is a piece about junk emails, phone calls, mail and door sales. You simply need to put a notice on your door politely asking for no salesmen. And if they ignore the notice, ignore them. They will go away.

But seriously, do you need to open the door and attack people who are just doing their job? Why not write your complaint into the companies themselves, rather than attack innocent salesmen.

A notice does not always work, I have an official notice at my door they often ring bell thinking it doesn't apply to them

I know they are annoying but being abusive or threatening people is not the best way to go around it

If you want to be like that just say no thank you and shut the door or don't answer it

Our council has "No Cold Callers" zones, speak to your local councillor and ask if the council can implement similar scheme. It won't stop all callers, some seem unable to read the signs attached to lamp posts.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
