Hi, can anyone tell me what happens if you miss a Rent payment? what's the general standard proceedure?
Am in a bit of a pickle at the moment as I had to give up work to care for my daughter, have applied for housing benefit but it's going to take 4-6 weeks and my rent's due on the 30th!
what will happen?
thanks...........

Have you spoken to your landlord & explained the situation as they might be understanding?
Have you looked at your LHA (local housing allowance rate) to ensure that your rent will be covered as well?
https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/Secure/LHARateSearch.aspx?SearchType=PostCodeI'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Speak to your LL and explain the circs, that might put their mind at rest. LL COULD serve notice as soon as you are in ANY arrears, but that is very unlikely. If they do, take it straight to housing benefits as that is a hemelessness threat and they will priorities your claim. You housing benefit (LHA) will be backdated when it comes through but is paid in arrears every 2 weeks direct to you. Most rent is in requested in advance so, again, this might be something to discuss with the LL.0

Hi, contact your landlord and explain its going to be late and why. Most landlords will be ok about it just explain the situation. It will be backdated to the monday after you put the claim in so they wont be missing out maybe just a couple of week late0

I'd have a word with the LA then. Probably easier as they have seen it all before. If you approach them, it always looks better than them chasing you.0
