Been to many Greek islands (never Kos) and never paid anywhere near that for a beer. Having said that, this was before the well publicised problems Greece are having so taxes on alchohol etc may have gone up.
It was normally about 3 euro for a pint of the local beer, maybe 4 or 5 euro for a 'brand' beer.0 -
My mate has just arrived on Lesvos, a large Mythos is 3.5 euro and that is in a bar with cushions on the seats...
Not Kos but dont worry too much.

I've been there 5 times and never seen the prices you were told. So unless everything has gone up by 300% in the last 6 months you'll be fine.0

thanx for the responses...the folks that say this, have just recently returned from there and say the reason for the price increases are the trouble occuring in Greece at the moment !!0

well my friend runs a bar in kos (kefalos) and i somehow doubt a glass of mythos is suddenly 9 euro
i went 2 years ago (exchange rate was similar)
mythos (local beer) large glass (about half a litre ) 2.75
heineken/san miguel etc (bottle) 3.00
restaurant meal 7-10.00
i'll see what people on trip advisor are saying, i could email my friend but its holiday season, world cup and friday night, he'll be busythings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

Well I just got back from 2 weeks there and the prices have not changed at all. A Mythos is still 1.50/2 euros for 500ml in a restaurant, 90cents/1 euro in the shops!. Restuarant food hasn't gone up either. In fact a lot of places were offering deals to try to get people in.
Perhaps you might find it more expensive in certain places in Kos Town, but that has always been the case.0 -

Hey..which bar? I know most of them quite well0 -
Oh fuel is about 1.55 euro a litre, but with being such a small island you don't get through much anyway.
Hire cars were about the same as before, 25euros per day. That's pretty good.0 -
thanx for the reply...we go in a couple of weeks so thats a relief on the pocket to know this..i will post on ere wen we get bak and let u all know how we found it to be0

I've always found Kardamena to be more expensive than the other resorts - but I think thats because its got a more 'party'ish reputation. Last time I went it was around 5-6 euros a drink in most places.0
