Bt Problems - Can I jump ship to Sky?

I've had some problems with BT overcharging me and messing around with direct debits, long story short - I've had enough and I'm leaving contract early.
I'm already with SKY for tv (have been for about a year or so) if I sign up to them for thier home phone package, will they get lumped with any charges associated with me leaving BT (line-rental etc) and add it to my bills or is that not how it would work?
Any help appreciated, cheers.

If you breach your contract with BT, they will charge you for doing so.
Those charges will appear on your final BT bill.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Excellent, over to Sky it is then.0

Make sure you tell BT you're cancelling - don't leave it entirely up to Sky to do so on your behalf, as if they fail to notify, you'll still be in contract with BT and it will make matters worse.0

Give them 21 days to sort their issues out - or youwill leave due to failure to perform on their part. More leverage to argue against contract penalties.Excellent, over to Sky it is then.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Given the general feeling toward BT on here Im surprised you get ANY business Stephanie
If your not in a fixed deal, then you can change your phone supplier at any time.
Just keep a note of the dates, copies of emails or phone calls ect,
Ive just moved my line and calls to o2. as I have my BB with them, it just took a call to the sales team.
I did get a letter from BT confirming my move and one from o2 giving me a start date.
