Urgent Tom Tom advice needed. (Speed Camera service)

Hello,

I need advice on buying a Tom Tom(with a sepped camera feature/service) & fast. I need to order it today(away tomorrow) as i need it on Saturday. Never had one before and i need the speed camera service. Do i need to pay extra for this or is their sat nav's that come with them free? Tried googling and there is a vast of info and options so thought i would ask here hoping someone would be kind enough to know and give me the answers straight off...

I only have a bog standard Tom Tom couple of years old now and that bleeps like mad and flashes a message up when approaching areas with speed cams. It also tells me when I'm speeding :eek: above the limits imposed where I am driving. You don't pay extra for the service. All part and parcel of the device.

Really?

I can't find anything online that says that, according to the tom tom website I have to pay £20per year for a speed camera service. I'd rather not of course, more so because the hassle of paying and setting up the service online before our long trip on Sunday.

Really would appreciate as much advice here as poss. Need to order online tonight and we really are keen for a speed camera service

Yours was probably purchased when they had an offer on.

They do not come with cameras as standard.

TomTom's own camera database is rubbish - you are better off paying for the one at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/

Hi there,

My basic TomTom one came with a speed camera function, pretty sure it was in the box, however the update seemed to have stopped now after 12 months.

I now have a built in TomTom in the car and even though it has been just updated, it still beeps at cameras that are no longer there, ie temporary ones.

Look closely at the box and if not just sign up for pocketgpsworld, even for one month.

Annual membership only now. Has been for a few years, but if you spot and report a new one, you can get lifetime free membership.

Have a look at the ebuyer website they have loads of satnavs including tomtom. The prices are good also pricerunner. I use my google phone navigation but it does not have speed cameras. I do drive within the limit.
